Cracker Barrel Rocks!

A couple of months ago it dawned on us that we hadn’t visited Cracker Barrel in awhile and so we headed off. We went in the morning for breakfast (although you can get their breakfast food anytime you like). One of the best things about Cracker Barrel is their store connected to the restaurant. Of course you can’t help but encounter it because you have to walk through it to get into the restaurant (kudos to Cracker Barrel’s Marketing team on this one). I like this because if you have to wait for a table (which you usually do because the food is so good) it makes the time fly by. For those that have children though you know how hard this can be because there are so many wonderful little toys etc. that of course the children would like to take home. Even for that, I still love and appreciate the concept behind it. I must say that no matter what Cracker Barrel we’ve visited for the most part all the employees seem to be exceptionally nice. I have come to believe that management either really focuses on this in training or they really know how to pick their employees well when hiring (probably a combination of both). This time was no different; our server was very polite and accommodating. I ordered their famous blueberry pancakes and opted for their blueberry syrup as well. They were cooked perfectly and loaded with blueberries (which tasted great unlike some other places where the blueberries can taste sour). My wife had an egg sandwich on sourdough bread and hash browns that were done to perfection. My children went for the regular pancakes and seemed to like them as they gobbled them up. The restaurant along with their restrooms was clean (which to me is just as important if not more than how good the food is).

The only complaint that I have with Cracker Barrel restaurants is the seating situation. I always feel like there is never enough room between tables which at times can make me feel uncomfortable. If I remember correctly they also lack booths, which is probably by design to maximize seating. I guess if they didn’t do so good of a business then they wouldn’t need as many tables so close together so that comes down to being a trade off.
